In a perfect world, the roads would never be icy. Since this is not the case, salt is often used to help improve traction. The issue with this is the effect that salt has on cars, particularly their paint and underbody. To help prevent issues, the team at Boalsburg Car Company is here to share some tips.

Create a barrier between your vehicle and the road salt with wax. This is obviously most beneficial if done before the snow starts falling. You can take your car in to be professionally waxed, including a coating on the underbody for added protection.

Even if you do wax your vehicle, you will still want to keep up on washing it. Hand washing and using two buckets of water is the best way to ensure that you are cleaning off all of the salt. Do it in the early afternoon and try to look for days where it will hit at least 40 degrees.
